The State of Ohio Department of Health has identified lupus as a potentially severe, difficult to diagnose, disease that may be associated with multiple racial, ethnic, and social economic disparities. This training will review best practices in the diagnosis and treatment of Lupus as well as a toolkit with resources that will enhance the ability of healthcare professionals to improve patient compliance.
Objectives: To review the epidemiology and pathogenesis of SLE. To discuss the role of the ANA test in diagnosis of SLE. To appreciate the more serious manifestations of SLE that can influence morbidity and mortality of the disease To understand present and potential future treatment strategies for SLE.
