Urge The Ohio Senate to Keep Lupus in the Budget!

This is an urgent request!!! The Ohio House of Representatives has removed lupus funding from the budget. This critical funding allows the Lupus Foundation of America, Greater Ohio Chapter to provide many of its programs and services. Without this funding, the Lupus Foundation of America, Greater Ohio Chapter will face a critical shortage which will result in decreased patient services, reduced funding for food, medical, and transportation assistance, and economic instability for patients that rely on the Lupus Foundation of America, Greater Ohio Chapter’s support. It may even result in the closure of the Chapter.

The budget is now in the hands of the Ohio Senate. Please take a moment to ask the Ohio Senate to reinstate lupus in the Ohio Budget. Subject: Please Reinstate Lupus in the Ohio Budget!

I am writing to you today as a voter in Ohio and a strong supporter of The Lupus Foundation of America, Greater Ohio Chapter. I am deeply concerned about the recent reduction in state funding for this vital organization and urge you to advocate for its full reinstatement in House Bill 96.

The Lupus Foundation of America, Greater Ohio Chapter is dedicated to improving the quality of life for all people impacted by lupus through programs of research, education, support, and advocacy. Lupus patients across Ohio benefit from the education and support they receive, as healthcare providers do not have the ability to give them the one-on-one support they need to help manage this complex disease. It is the goal of the Lupus Foundation of America, Greater Ohio Chapter, to ensure that each lupus patient in Ohio has the tools they need to manage their disease and live a full and productive life while living with lupus.

The Lupus Foundation of America, Greater Ohio Chapter has received funding through the state of Ohio for the past four budget cycles. Now, however, the Chapter is at a critical juncture. The impact of the reduced funding on the Federal level has already been felt by patients here in Ohio. Corporate funders, including pharmaceutical organizations, and private funders have pulled back their support. Without funding from the State of Ohio the Lupus Foundation of America, Greater Ohio Chapter will face a critical shortage which will result in a reduction in force, decreased patient services, reduced funding for food, medical, and transportation assistance, and economic instability for patients that rely on the Lupus Foundation of America, Greater Ohio Chapter’s support. It may even result in the closure of the Chapter.

I urge you to follow Governor DeWine’s example as set in the executive budget and prioritize the reinstatement of funding for The Lupus Foundation of America, Greater Ohio Chapter in House Bill 96. Your support will make a tangible difference in the lives of countless lupus patients and contribute to a stronger, more prosperous state.
